Obesity Is No More A Health Problem

Some years ago, obesity was a big talking problem for people. With more and more deaths caused due to obesity all over the world, many health care professionals began to research for alternative medicines and procedures for enabling people to get out of this dreadful problem. Now this so called dreadful problem became nothing nopwadays since some kind of surgical procedures were introduced and ‘Bariatric surgery’ is the common term used for denoting weight loss surgery. Under this procedure, a gastric band, which is placed via laproscopic surgery on the top portion of the stomach. The idea behind this operation is the creation of a small pouch in the upper part of the stomach. This pouch is created with the help of an adjustable and controlled stomach and no stapling is done on the stomach. As, no stapling is involved, the recovery time will be faster. Also, limited period of hospitalization is only required as only small incisions are made for conducting the operation. 

How Gastric band works? This is the easiest of many other types of Bariatric operations . This is because the surgery is done under least invasive method. As no part of the stomach is removed or either stapled and also no re-routing is done to the large intestine, the nutrient absorption capacity of the patient will remain the same. In other surgical procedures, there will be either stabling of stomach or some tissues will be removed and because of these the nutrition absorption capacity of the patient will reduce. All these worries are avoided under this surgical procedure of lap band.

Furthermore, the gastric band used for placing on the stomach is made entirely from biocompatible materials. So, the band can stay in the body without causing any harm to the patient. Now, let us find how gastric band is beneficial as compared to other forms of laproscopic operations:

• The operation is fully reversible. This means that as the stomach tissues are not removed and so the surgery can be reversed. As and when the patient or the health care provider feels that the band placed in the stomach should be removed, it can be done easily with the help of laproscopic surgery.
• The band placed in the stomach can be adjusted if the patient requires so that too without laproscopic surgery.

On conclusion, because of this higholy beneficial surgical procedure, obesity is not a problem any more and it’s a great relief for obese people for sure.
